Scopepin vs MarkUp.io

MarkUp.io is a review tool for websites, images, PDFs and videos: you create a MarkUp from a link or a file, share it, and people pin comments on it. Scopepin does the client feedback part too, and adds what it's for: it flags requests outside the agreed scope and turns them into priced change requests your client approves.

Why agencies pick Scopepin

It notices scope creep for you

Each request is checked against the scope you agreed. The ones outside it are flagged privately, with the reason, as they arrive.

Extra work turns into an invoice line

Bundle out-of-scope requests into a priced change request. Your client approves each item from an email link, with no login.

You see the page they saw

A snapshot of the page, rebuilt at their screen size with the pin on the element, plus console lines, errors and failed requests.

When MarkUp.io is the better pick

  • A bigger team: every MarkUp.io plan includes unlimited users.
  • Reviewing images, PDFs and videos as well as websites. MarkUp.io supports over 30 file types.
  • Getting comments on a site where you can't add a script: MarkUp.io opens the page from a link, with nothing added to the site.

If you build sites for clients on a fixed scope and the small extras are where your margin goes, that's what Scopepin is for.

Questions

Does Scopepin limit how many pages clients can review?

No. Scopepin counts active projects, not reviews. A project covers the whole website, with unlimited pages, clients and comments. MarkUp.io's plans include a set number of MarkUps a month, with extras at $4 each.

Do I need to add anything to the site?

For Scopepin, yes: one script line, on staging, live or both. Clients then comment on the real site, and every comment carries the page, browser and screen size. MarkUp.io works from a link to the page instead, so nothing goes on the site.

Is Scopepin cheaper than MarkUp.io?

For one person or a small team, yes. MarkUp.io Pro starts at $79 a month for 50 MarkUps. Scopepin is free for one project, Starter is $19 a month for 3 projects, and Agency is $79 a month for unlimited projects. MarkUp.io includes unlimited users on every plan; Scopepin's plans include 1, 3 or 10 people.

Do my clients see anything different from MarkUp.io?

They click a Feedback button on the site, pin a comment and type their name and email the first time, much like MarkUp.io. They never see a scope flag or a price unless you send them a change request.
