Client website review, without the email thread

Client review is where web projects slow down: long emails, blurry screenshots and “the thing at the top” on a page you have to guess. With Scopepin, clients click a Feedback button on the staging or live site, point at what they mean and type. You get every comment pinned to the element, with a snapshot of the page as they saw it.

Free for one project. No card needed. Your clients never log in.

Why client review takes so long

Most clients review a website the only way they know: they open it, take screenshots, and write an email. The screenshot is cropped, the page isn't named, and there's no way to tell which browser or screen size they used. Half your replies are questions about the feedback, not answers to it.

Asking clients to install a browser extension or create an account doesn't help. Many won't, some can't on a work laptop, and the rest forget their password before the next round.

Good review needs three things: feedback attached to the exact spot on the page, enough context to see what the client saw, and one list everyone works from.

How it works

How to do it with Scopepin

  1. 1

Add one line to the site

Paste the install line into your site's custom code, on staging, live or both. It works on Webflow, WordPress, Framer, Squarespace, Wix, Shopify and any site that takes a script.

  2. 2

    Send the client the link

Tell them to click Feedback in the corner. The first time, they type their name and email. There's nothing to install and no account.

  3. 3

    Clients pin and draw

They click the element they mean and type the comment. They can draw a box, an arrow, a note or a highlight, blur anything private, and record their screen with a voice-over.

  4. 4

    Work from one list

Every comment lands in your dashboard as a list or a board. Reply by email from the item, assign it, mark it done, and the client can follow progress from a shared link.

What helps

  • Pinned to the element

Each comment is attached to the button, heading or image the client clicked, on the page they were on.

  • A snapshot of what they saw

The page is rebuilt at their screen size with the pin in place. Form fields are masked.

  • Screen recording and replay

Clients can record up to a minute with a voice-over, and each comment comes with a replay of the minute before they sent it.

  • A progress page for the client

One link shows the client every request and whether it's received, in progress or done. No status emails.

Example

Your client reviews the staging site on their phone and pins seven comments in ten minutes. One says “this looks squashed”. In the dashboard it's pinned to the pricing table, with a snapshot taken at 390 pixels wide, so you can see the third column wrapping. You fix it, mark it done, and the client sees it move to done on their progress page.

How to get better feedback from clients

  • Ask for feedback on a staging site, page by page, rather than “have a look and let me know”.
  • Set a review window: one round of feedback by a date, then the next version. Open-ended review never ends.
  • Tell clients what kind of feedback you need at this stage: layout and content first, details later.
  • Ask them to send each point separately, on the thing it's about. One request per comment is easier to fix, track and price.
  • Close the loop. Clients give better feedback when they can see the last round was acted on.

Questions

Do my clients need an account?

No. They click Feedback on the site and type their name and email the first time. Nothing to install, nothing to remember.

Does it work on staging sites?

Yes. List the staging address on the project next to the live domain, and the same line works on both.

Can clients review on their phones?

Yes. Pinning and commenting work on phones and tablets. Screen recording needs a desktop browser.

Can I reply to a comment?

Yes. Reply from the item and the client gets it by email. Their answer comes back into the same thread.

Is it free?

Yes, for one active project, with unlimited clients and reviewers. Paid plans add more projects, team members and scope tools.
