1Create a project for the client's site
In Scopepin, add a project and list every address the site runs on: the myshopify.com address and the live domain.
The script only accepts feedback from the addresses you list, so a copy of the line pasted on another site does nothing. List client.com and it covers www.client.com too. The project page then shows your install line, with the project's own key in place of sp_….
2Paste the line into Shopify
In Shopify admin, go to Online Store, Themes, open the theme's menu and choose Edit code, open theme.liquid in the Layout folder, paste the line just above </body>, and save.
Duplicate the theme first if you'd like a safe copy to go back to. Paste the line on its own, without changing any other code.
If you switch themes or install a theme update that replaces theme.liquid, add the line again.
<script src="https://scopepin.com/w/v1.js" data-key="sp_…" async></script>3Publish, then test it yourself
Publish the site, open it, click Feedback and pin a comment. It appears in your dashboard with a snapshot of the page.
Open the store in a private window to test. If the store is password protected while you build it, enter the password first. The first time you send, the widget asks for your name and email, the way it will ask your client. Nobody needs an account.
What happens next
Each comment is checked against the scope you agreed with the client. The ones that go beyond it are flagged privately, and you can bundle them into a priced change request your client approves from a link.
Questions
Do my clients need a login?
No. They click Feedback on the site, pin a comment and type their name and email the first time. That's it.
Will it slow the site down?
The line loads after the page, and the part that captures the page snapshot only loads when someone sends feedback.
Does it work on the checkout pages?
No. Shopify keeps its checkout separate from the theme, so the widget appears on the storefront pages, not in checkout.
Will it slow the store down?
The line loads after the page, and the part that captures the snapshot only loads when someone sends feedback.
How do I remove it after launch?
Delete the line where you added it and publish. The feedback you collected stays in your dashboard.
