How to add a feedback widget to a Webflow site

Paste one line into your Webflow site's footer code and publish. Your client clicks Feedback on the page, pins a comment where the problem is, and it lands in your dashboard with a snapshot of what they saw. About five minutes.

1. Create a project for the client's site

In Scopepin, add a project and list every address the site runs on: the staging address ending in .webflow.io and the live domain.

The script only accepts feedback from the addresses you list, so a copy of the line pasted on another site does nothing. List client.com and it covers www.client.com too. The project page then shows your install line, with the project's own key in place of sp_….

2. Paste the line into the site's footer code

In Webflow, open Site settings, then the Custom code tab, paste the line into Footer code, and save.

Footer code runs just before the closing body tag on every page, which is where the widget belongs: it loads after the page, so it never holds the page up.

<script src="https://scopepin.com/w/v1.js" data-key="sp_…" async></script>

If Webflow asks you to upgrade before it will save custom code, the site needs a plan that includes custom code.

3. Publish, then test it yourself

Publish the site, open the published address, click Feedback and pin a comment. It appears in your dashboard with a snapshot of the page.

Custom code runs on the published site only, not inside the Designer, so test on the .webflow.io address or the live domain. The first time you send, the widget asks for your name and email, the way it will ask your client. Nobody needs an account.

4. Send the link to your client

Send the client the page address and tell them to click Feedback in the corner. That's all they need.

Every comment is pinned to the element they clicked and arrives with their browser, screen size and the Webflow breakpoint, so "the button looks wrong" comes with the page as they saw it.

What happens next

Reply to a comment from the dashboard and your client gets it by email; their answer comes back into the same thread. Mark it resolved when it's done.

Questions

Do my clients need a login?
No. They click Feedback on the site, pin a comment and type their name and email the first time. That's it.
Will it slow the site down?
The line loads after the page, and the part that captures the page snapshot only loads when someone sends feedback.
Can I add it to one page only?
Yes. Paste the line into that page's settings, under Custom code, in the box for code before the closing body tag, instead of the site-wide footer code.
Does it work on the staging site and the live domain?
Yes. List both addresses on the project and the same line works on each.
How do I remove it after launch?
Delete the line from Footer code and publish. The feedback you collected stays in your dashboard.
Does it work on sites not built in Webflow?
Yes. Paste the same line just before the closing body tag on any website, in whatever place your site builder gives you for custom code.
