1Create a project for the client's site
In Scopepin, add a project and list every address the site runs on: the built-in squarespace.com address and the live domain.
The script only accepts feedback from the addresses you list, so a copy of the line pasted on another site does nothing. List client.com and it covers www.client.com too. The project page then shows your install line, with the project's own key in place of sp_….
2Paste the line into Squarespace
In Squarespace, open Code Injection (search for it in the site's settings panel), paste the line into the Footer box, and save.
The Footer box adds code before the closing body tag on every page of the site.
<script src="https://scopepin.com/w/v1.js" data-key="sp_…" async></script>Squarespace includes Code Injection on its Core, Plus and Advanced plans (and some older ones). On other plans the setting is locked.
3Publish, then test it yourself
Publish the site, open it, click Feedback and pin a comment. It appears in your dashboard with a snapshot of the page.
Open the live site in a private window to test: the editor view doesn't run injected code the same way. The first time you send, the widget asks for your name and email, the way it will ask your client. Nobody needs an account.
What happens next
Each comment is checked against the scope you agreed with the client. The ones that go beyond it are flagged privately, and you can bundle them into a priced change request your client approves from a link.
Questions
Do my clients need a login?
No. They click Feedback on the site, pin a comment and type their name and email the first time. That's it.
Will it slow the site down?
The line loads after the page, and the part that captures the page snapshot only loads when someone sends feedback.
Can I use a Code Block instead?
A Code Block adds the line to one page only, and Squarespace limits scripts in Code Blocks on some plans. Code Injection covers every page, so use that when you can.
Does it work on a trial site?
Code Injection needs one of the plans above, so publish on a paid plan first.
How do I remove it after launch?
Delete the line where you added it and publish. The feedback you collected stays in your dashboard.
Setting up on another platform?
Put it on your next Squarespace build.
